Not a whole lotta pictures going on ...

I apologize ahead of time for those of you who check in daily to see the latest 'licking the screen' opportunity.

But hubby and I are MOVING into our new nearly-empty nest during this merry month of May, and I have precious few cakes to be created. Thankfully, since goodness only knows where my cake pans and supplies will be at any given moment for the next month!

So there won't be much to see here until after Memorial Day weekend, but if you'd like to see some other pictures, you can click on over to my Urban Suds soap blog at http://urbansuds.blogspot.com

Yes, I craft both delicious soaps and amazing cakes, so go on over to the soapblog to see what's available in the land of Urban Suds right now. Maybe that will give you the fix you need. I DO have a new soap flavor called "Pound Cake." It's amazingly yummy. But please don't eat it.

If you need to contact me about cakes or soap or anything else, my email address is ksriddle@sbcglobal.net

Have a great May, and you won't BELIEVE what this cake business will transform into after June 1. Stay tuned!

Wedding cake for a zillion

Not really a zillion. Just twice as many as daughter's wedding. Florist was supposed to fill in the spaces between tiers with zillions of hot pink tulips and roses. Florist showed up, instead, with only 12 blooms. It was still a beautiful and delicious cake ... but it would have been SO much more dramatic had the flowers been placed according to plan.

And here's the groom's cake

Two layers of chocolate cake, iced in chocolate, with a chocolate basketball cake on top. Decorated with dripping chocolate ganache, accented with chocolate-dipped strawberries.

After me, dude, after me

I think the bride was telling the youngest boy in attendance that yes, he CAN have the very first piece of cake after theirs. He just has to wait another minute or two....

Still cutting the cake ...

(Indulge me, please.) This one shows the flowers and the "groom's cake" which was actually 7 batches of brownies, cut and decorated to look like Dominoes. Back when we started planning this, my son-in-law-to-be hated cake but loved brownies. So I planned to do brownies for him, instead. He has since come to declare that he actually likes the cakes I bake -- but I thought the brownie idea was too cute not to do.

Hail, Hail, the Gang's all Here!

Couldn't resist posting this pic. We had record breaking COLD weather in Texas on the wedding weekend -- Easter Eve. So record-breaking in fact, that HAIL started falling from the skies as the kids took their vows. The world's shortest wedding ceremony, big excitement and much fun and hilarity ensued. Yee-haw!

First pic of the wedding cake!

My photoshop skills are not up to par for blurring out the background properly, but cousin Sean has provided us with the first and only, so far, picture of eldest daughter's wedding cake -- the raison d'etre for this entire blog. No doubt I'll post a zillion more pictures of it from all different angles, as we get more. White almond sour cream cake, buttercream icing, covered with fondant. Decorated with real ribbons and fresh tulips. The bride and her attendants carried hot pink tulips. I think we had maybe 10 pieces left over. It was yummy.
